I recommend it to anybody that wants a movie that will make them happy. Get a sneak peek of the new version of this page. His beloved mother wants him to get married and presents one marriage candidate after the other. Unfortunately none of the woman pleases him, because they all look just like her. Starring: Inge Maux, NoƩmie Schmidt, Joel Basman. Marcos' life turns wild after to meet Raquel. Extremely funny and somehow a true story about being jew in a modern world. Her tarot readings recommend his freeing himself from all restraints and conventions, to make his own life as he wants. Young Jewish man bucks orthodox traditions (and mother's meddling) by shaving, shopping outside the faithful, and considering a shiksa for a wife. I was thoroughly entertained! Young orthodox Jew Mordechai Wolkenbruch, called Motti, has a serious problem: All the women, whom his mama introduces to him as potential wives, look just like her. It's a coming-of-age story that features over-the-top Orthodox Jewish stereotypes with plenty for people to be offended about.
Gives a much better portrayal of emotion. I am not Jewish, but I don't think one needs to be in order to enjoy this film - to empathize, to laugh and to cry with its main character. "Motti" seems to wish for us to evaluate those questions, but never gives us enough meat to begin the process of chewing. The film is both funny and touching, the pace was quick, the humor kept coming, the music was upbeat and ironic, and the acting, overdone to perfection. As the garden image suggests, he has removed himself from his orthodox Swiss Jewish family's tightly structured order and is moving through the outside wilds. Enjoyed it very much! Especially if that minority group has strict rules to protect their values.
